While I am tearing everything out from under the hood I have been thinking how I want to refinish things as it goes back together. I sprayed a spot on my coolant tank with paint stripper and hit it with the buffing wheel for a sec. The picture dont really show how shiney it came out but I was thinking about polishing the whole tank and clear coating it. I know it dont really show a lot of it under the hood but thought it might look cool.. yea or nay???
yes its all scratched and nicked, I was gonna repaint it black but then I seen how it shined up so I dunno
well if you were thinking about repainting it anyway you need sand everything down anyhow. so get it down to bare metal and mount it in the engine compartment for a quick "look see." If you dont like it, take it out primer and paint it back to stock
Be CAREFUL when you start putting things under the hood that sparkle it gets very expensive. You may think its just this one piece and then you get to looking at other things and say to yourself “I cant leave that like that now that I have _____ sparkly piece here” It’s a slippery road
Polished brass looks good on an old steam engine but not a corvette.
LOL: My 1st favorite answer.

lol, ok I was thinkin maybe on a model-A but I never thought about an old steam engine. every thing is going back basic stock but just looking for a few little things that would look better, cleaner, different than it was.. I'll keep looking..
The other type are aluminum so whats the big deal?
I think it would look good polished, it would make yours somthing different
On my Dad's 57 nomad he polished the top of the radiator and cleared it. Now that was 15 years ago and it still looks great, plus he always gets positive remarks about it at car shows
