This has probably been asked a thousand times, but I have'nt had any luck so far searching threads, etc. How can I tell for sure which 4 spd I have? I've seen pictures of the Muncie, Saginaw and Borg-warners somewhere, but can't find them now. I have a "numbers-matching" 75 coupe with the L48 350 and the trans looks to be original too. The numbers on the right side of the case are 1304065903, W.G.Div., FPC 2. Thanks!
The 4 speed muncie code (cast iron case) is located on the machined surface on the left side of the case just below the side cover. The 4 speed muncie code (aluminum case) is located vertically on the right side of the case ahead of the extension.
Example;
P5R03A
The cast number you give is for a borg warner...i just googled it.
Glad I finally know what I have! What can anyone tell me about the Borg-Warner? Pros, cons, keep it or swap for a 5 spd? Right now I'm leaning toward rebuilding (will attempt this myself, be prepared for more questions) and keeping due to $$. Thanks again!
