Default 71 ls6

I looked at a 71 Corvette project car that a used car dealer took in trade. It has no PS, PB, AC, or optional equipment. It has a 454 from the late 70s I think, I found a casting date on the heads ending with 6. It has a data plate that says 425 Horsepower. I know that they are reproduced, and it probably isn't a real LS6, but how can you tell the difference in a real original data plate and a reproduction? The guy thinks it has a 70 model motor in it but has never made any reference to the LS6 data plate on the car. It also has an Ecklers big block hood on it and the tach goes yellow at 5100 and red at 5400. The data plate looks like it came on it and has the same patina as the rest of the interior. The car has a lot of new parts with it such as exhaust tips, weatherstripping, door handles, carpet, lenses, etc. It has a GM aluminum intake casting number 3947801. My best guess is that this is a 71 Corvette dressed out as an LS6 that was done years ago.Can you guys help me here?

data Plates are offered at about all the parts houses... that tach redline is from a base engine small block, per the ncrs judging guide, and is the main factor in showing that this was an original base engine small block. a base engine small block project car with no options should be fairly cheap to buy. I would allow only a very small premium for the existing big block. But certainly do not offer big block money, and absolutely do not offer LS6 money for the car.. also look very closely at the block casting date..

beware of the corvette fever, do not overpay for the car...

The tach on that car is a base engine tach

The intake is from a 69 427/390hp

Might not be a real LS6 but could be an original LS5

Does it have front and rear sway bars?
