that link is great if you know what the readings are supposed to say.
that may be the problem i am having as well but i cant find the specs for the coil
Years ago I ground the valves and replaced the timing chain in a Pontiac, and after putting everything back together it would not start. I did everything but build a new engine only to find out that removing the coil from the car and moving it around on the bench a few times caused it to fail. Installed new coil and all was well.
Well I've never claimed that I'm a genius when it comes to cars but it seems amazing to me that I could screw the whole thing up by changing the air cleaner. I wouldn't have even changed it but I read on some post on the forum that the aftermarket Edelbrock air cleaner I had was known to catch on fire. Once agian, an easy fix turns into other problems. I've learned my lesson. If it ain't broke, I ain't fixing it.
I don't know if I would take that attitude towards it, I think an enjoyable part of the hobby is getting and putting on the componenets you want. If things get a little dorked up along the way so that you have to re-do them, so what? What is the hurry? This is stuff I do with my LEISURE time. If I start feeling stressed that putting the new air cleaner I want has to be done TODAY and it has to be done right the first time or there will be hell to pay, that sounds an awful lot like WORK to me. If you are feeling stressed, relax, I have never heard of anyone ruining an engine by changing the air cleaner. Take a deep breath, put the Edelbrock back on, and link the posts saying an air cleaner will catch on fire, I would love to read that one
Well it has become work. I changed the coil, checked the points again, and tried to fire it up. It turned over one time and then I smelled the beuatiful smell of burning wires. I'm done for this year. It can sit in the garage until next year. It really isn't fun anymore.
