Glass Packs ???
We all know that due to the muffler location, our C3s have a unique sound as compared to a conventional exhaust system. I have a 74 big block that I cannot get the right sound from. It used to be just boring but now is "caddy quiet" with a new set of huge stock GM style mufflers.
Has anyone ever put on a set of old style straight thru GLASS PACKS like a Smithy, Cherry Bomb or Orange Peeler.....I wonder what that would sound like ????
I bought my Vette with standard ram's horns to straight pipes with worn out Cherry Bombs installed. It sounded beautiful! Nice rumble and not too loud. Cops would always tail me to check how loud they were; a little un-nerving.
I am mid-rebuild now and am going with Hedmans to straight pipes to Flowmasters.
I don't have a BB. Mine is just the standard 200 hp 350. I have headers and glasspacks. I don't know what brand they are. They came with a complete system I bought off ebay. I love the sound of them but they would probably sound completely different with a BB. (probably sound much better)
I have shorty headers from sanderson, to straight pipes under the car, to magnaflow glasspacks, and then the pipes dump out of the side, in front of the rear wheel.
And I love it.
But my neighbor thinks I'm gonna get pulled over for noise. It's a 76 L48.
I honestly don't think it's that loud...CERTAINLY a lot quieter than the motorcycles that tear around town.
Here's mine. Straight pipes back to the rear end into these "Y'd" glasspacks. Don't ask me what they are or who made them, they were laying around the shop so we stuck them on there to see what they would look like. They sound pretty darn good too!
