Check your compressor, does it turn easily, or has it ceased up? If it's ceased, it's shot. If it turns, probably just needs a recharge.

Or, you could just get rid of it. It'll shave off 80 pounds, easy. That's like a 10hp gain, right there.

I looked at your car before you bought it. It didn't have an A/C Condensor on it. Check out all A/C components to make sure the System is complete.

Should I be worried if you didn't buy it?

I am positive the a/c doesn't work but when I switch from hot to cold there is no temp difference at all. I should have put that in the first post. I just want to know if there is a vaccuum valve or something to look for.
Thanks
Frank

I didn't buy the car because it required more work and money than I wanted to put into it. I have just about finished a 74 Roadster and have a lot of money in it. This does't mean that you should not have bought your car. If you have a friend who has a Corvette, and is knowledgable about it, let him look at yours and tell you what is missing. If not, take it to a neighborhood shop and let them look at it. They shouldn't charge you much just to look at it and tell you what is missing. I am almost sure that your A/C Condenser is missing. With this the System will not operate. Good Luck

On my 76, rolling the control from cold to hot does 2 things:

1. activates the vacuum switch that opens flow to the heater core. If this switch under the hood is not operating, the hot water will flow through the core all of the time. Some owners replace this switch with a manual valve. If this valve is open, hot water will flow through the heater core all of the time. The vacuum control is easy to check, the signal to the switch should change whenever the control is rolled from full cold.

2. opens the flapper door that allows air to pass through the heater core into the car. This is connected via cable like a push lawnmower throttle control. If this cable is disconnected, the flapper could be open all of the time.
