I confess this question is for my GTO, not my Vette. But I remember reading a tread here about painting or dyeing interior pieces - not sure what is technically the correct term. I bought new trim for the Vette so I didn't have to go that route - but this is not an option for the GTO as the damaged trim is not reproduced. So I have to get boneyard trim and change the color to red.
Can you paint/redye interior plastic trim from black to red? I don't know if you can go from darker to lighter. Has anyone done this? Thanks.
watch them very well with sem soap cleaner and then put the adhesive they also make to open the pores up so it absorbs the color and not just a coating, many people dont do that and thats the reason alot of dyed pieces are scratched off with the paint, and yes, use several light coats until its even and looks good, after 2 days scratch it with your fingernail, if the color doesnt come off then you did it right, i did most of my vette interior this was, the cans are also alot easier too instead of soaking them , jmo
