I know most people recommend Dynamat for this but I could not justify the additional cost.
It actually took more time then I thought with all the cutting & fitting but at least I can now check it off the list.
I had two 50 foot rolls and used 1 & 1/2 for complete the interior.
I've got lots of pieces left over and 1/2 a roll to double up areas and line inside the doors.
Is there a need to put down reflectix, for the heat factor, on top of the FatMat ?
Rod
I have never driven the car so I really don't know if I need the reflectix.
My carpet kit came with an underlayment, I have the firewall heatshields in place as well as the tunnel insulator and seal. With the side exhaust I'm hoping I don't need any more but am open to suggestions from those with experience.

i put it in mine and it cheap at lows. it was like 20 bucks for the whole roll and had some leftover. not sure how much of a differnce it makes(never had on road) but was advised by all restoration forums and local upholstery and paint supply shops, it doesnt make that much of a differnce under gas pedal and stuff and makes easy to bond carpet too. the adhesive loves it, either way i would rather have it and not need it than find out you should have it after its all back together, right?
Just curious. What is the purpose of FatMat and all that work?
The primary purpose is sound deadening. The hope is that it will tighten the interior up, reduce squeaks, rattles and create a good environment for the sound system.
I thought I saw you using it with your kick panel speakers Paul and assumed you installed it in the 74.

I used DynaMat on the kick panels as it is supposed to prevent sound on the back side from cancelling out sound from the front side through the panel perforations. But with a stock exhaust system and with air turbulence in a convertible there is no road noise, just wind. The Windjammer cuts much of that out. Anyway, I was just curious. Some people put on side exhaust, some people put on chambered pipes, some use FatMat or Dynamat. Interesting hobby! Thanks for the answers.

that's Additional, fatmat is for sound, reflectix is for heat (it does very little for sound) so yeah... i personally am not going to put reflectix in, if i need to, ill put it in later, it only takes about 15 mins to take out the interior anyways.. as for fatmat, it did an AWESOME job of quieting the car down, im even considering lining my T-Tops with it because when im driving, the t-tops are the ones making the noise now
And it will be well wurth the effort, I did my rear compartment before the speaker installation and next winter I'll do the rest. Hopefully as well as you did your's
