Need your help on two issues:
1)How to improve the lighting of all gauges of a 79 vette, allredy changed the headlight/dimmer switch and bulbs to no avail, also tried applying 12 volts directly and still too little light.
2)The car seems to be too low on the rear, does it mean the transversal spring is shot or loosed its tension?

The easiest way for the brightness is to convert to SMD LED's, theres actually a forum vender that just started a thread to sell some, trust me, they work GREAT!

Thanks, but I allready have leds on all gauges, each bulb has 5 leds, one in the center and four radially mounted on the bulb and it is not enoguh light for my taste. They are ok for the rear or brake lights but not for the dash in this car.My daily driver is a Cavalier Z24 where the same leds did magic to my gauges. I think a bigger bulb (with more leds) won´t fit in the holes of the printed circuit.
Any info on the trans spring (leaf really) I appreciate. Thanks again.
A lot of people don't maintain the rear alaignment so look to see if the rear tires angle in a lot. If so, an alaignment could fix. There are longer than stock spring bolts that could be on there lowering it. Adjusting the spring bolt nuts could fix. If the spring is sagging there are spring shops that can restore it. You can get a lighter than steel composite spring from VB&P.

i have tried out many LED's for different dash's in several vehicles and the SMD LED's are WAYYYYYY better than the cheap led's that most companies sell. i would buy one smd and try it out and i am sure you will notice a HUGE difference.

SMD LED's are completely different and infinitely better than regular LED's they can actually dim and they are WAY WAY brighter
Yes, they are dim all the time and compared to the Cavalier Z24 the Vettes gauges seem to be dead from lack of light. I don´t want the gauges to be too bright just a decent amount of light so to be able to read their info. easily. Anyway too bright would be better than how they are now and I could dim them down if needed.
What do the SMD LED bulb's look like.. I just bought some LED bulbs and I am hoping I got the right kind...
BTW - do you still need the dash pics and what not? I honestly have not touched my car weeks nor have i been on the forum very much.
Ive heard a lot of positive and negative things about regular LED's, they are either too bright, or too dim, or they flicker and go out, and Ive heard of people doing just fine with them, depends on the people I guess
Here are the ones for my rear lights:
but there are pics in that thread of the ones that actually go in your dash, they have the wrong connection in the pics, but if you tell him your year he will send the right ones, they are a direct replacement
These SMD LED's are able to dim down with the factory dimmer ****
There was a discussion on the brightness or dimness of the dash lights the other day on this forum and the guy found out that the headlight switch was going bad from age causing the problem. I haven't had any problems, so I'm just repeating what I've heard. Keep us up to date, these cars aren't getting any younger. Thanks Doctorgene
