15 years ago, before the daze of forums/etc...I had a real 8 ball I drilled and inserted a thread saver of steel, glued into the ball....

screws on to the shifter just fine....but there is NO interlock so it's a stick shift shifter....

however there is NO reason this could not be easily modified and drilled through the ball for the button and base.....

The leather shift boot from Redline (forum vendor, at least was if they are not now) was 2 inch taller than stock. I would go even 4 inches taller than stock if I was to it again for a 100% coverage in all position look.
Thanks for the info…did you need to modify the console plate?

I had Redline make my boot taller for full shifter coverage. JMO, but the redline leather is much much better than the chinese yak junk the other vendors carry.
