Can't say whether it works or not however at a show last year I walked by a vette with these velco strips across the front chrome area and it looked like .(maybe he did it wrong) Couldn't figure out what it was for. Now I know.
This was asked before. Some guys want to leave their t-tops home and are afraid of being caught in the rain. Its the velcro that hurts my eyes.
IMHO You should look at one set up before you buy and see if you can live with it. Good luck.
I bought one in Feb. It says it will fade in time. Mine has faded to almost white in 2 months.
I also had to replace the velcro because it wouldn't stick. I used white velcro (I'm thinking of painting it with chrome paint so it blends in better) and extra glue, so no problem now.
Are there any alternatives? I'm heading on teh Hot Rod Power Tour and really don't want to have the t-tops, but also don't want to have velcro put on the car......

One alternative if you have '77 or older and need the storage behind the seats.
i have had my raincoat on the 78 for 10 years and love it. It takes up very little space when taken off and can be installed in less time than it takes for a red light to change colors (if the weather changes) and it will hold at 100+ mph for extended time with no problem. I did have to replace the glue under the velcro strip and it will fade. my car is stored in the garage and the raincoat is used for cruis'n where it is usually not on the car maybe that is why mine is still in great shape.
I have one and the problem I had was that the fiberglass T-Tops leaked along the rear because the weather striping would not seal on the velcro. The front was OK. I had to remove the velcro from the rear and the tops seal fine. I never used mine, so if any one wants one make me an offer, you will need to supply the velcro to go on the car.

AM-Top. Not made for years, but sometimes available on E-Bay, etc.
These are folding canvas T-Tops that take up very little room in the storage area. They use the stock mounting locations.
I don't know why no one has started up production on these again. These are far superior to anything else available new. They fit all '68-'82 Corvettes. Different years take different rear attachment pins.
