the upper hose attachments on my headlight actuators both point towards the drivers side. Should not the drivers point to the middle where the relays are? If I do have two lefts (or rights) will this mess with it. The lights don't move at the same rates, in fact there is quite a bit of difference. The passenger unit (which points in) seems to be much older.
They should both point towards the middle. I'm not sure what difference that would make, but I would definitely look into getting some replacement ones if they aren't working properly. I just put new ones (originals out of my dad's 69) in mine a few weeks ago after a seal blew out. Nothing like having headlights that fire open when you pull the switch.
so I was right, the upper connector should point in towards the center. some previous owner probally ordered the wrong one and did not want to take time to exchange.

Both my 71' and 78' point towards the center, but in looking at the AIM for the 78', it looks like they point outwards. I'd stick with pointing inward.
Hi!
The aftermarket ones have short tubes, so it is not important if they point in or outward if the vacuum tubes are long enough. The old ones have long tubes and can, not must, hit the hood if you open it. In function is the left=right.
