Default Were does this hose go?

I got this hose sticking out and I dont know were it goes. The other end goes into a thing on the wiper arm that has two other hoses on it. I cant get the wiper door to come up at all, I dont have any idea how this thing works as I have not seen one work. The car is a 69. I put a wire tie on the hose. THANKS

Isn't that a bleed line for the valve? Door is operated by the cylinder can to the left in the pic, should have a hose in the front.

I guess that is the proper term for it, there is an in and an out line and a line to let the pressure out or in, whichever way it goes. That goes to the wiper limit switch. Still, if your door doesn't open, the cylinder beside it is what controls that, they go to a relay valve like the headlights. Check that!!!

I agree, it's a vent line. It is attached to the top port of the safety valve that is under the passenger side wiper arm. The purpose of this valve is to keep the wiper door from closing until the wipers are in the parked position.

It's supposed to be that way. BTW - from what little I can see, your car looks unrestored like mine.

Thanks --I have never seen a wipper door open so this is new to me, I know I need to get new hose lines for the car because they are old, but I cant get the wipper door to open by the switch under the steering wheel, it is hard to get to the wippers with the door closed.

Go buy an Assembly Manual for 69 from any Vette vendor you can find............a very valuable tool, if you are missing vacuum lines or they are routed wrong, it will solve that for you.

Door should open with the normal wiper switch. Other items to check out is the door switch (piston type under the door) and the relay it connects to. If you want new hoses that fit correctly and also look "correct", go to docrebuild.com. By far the best host supplier and they make many of their own hoses. If you ever need pictures for correct configurations or appearance for anything, let me know and I'll take pictures. My car is a L36, 4spd, with AC.

If you want to open the wiper door manually, take the plug out of the front of the canister and push in on the acuator rod. Before I got my system working correctly on my '72 thats what I had to do every time I drove in the rain.

Thanks but I have tried that and there is no way unless I would use a big hammer, it is froze up, can you shoot some oil in there, or would that mess it up. If not how do you get it unfrozen? THANKS--JON

In the condition your car is in you should be able to grab the wiper door with both hands and open it. It opens toward the nose of the car, are you trying to lever it in the wrong direction?
I had this happen to me once, I took the wiper door canister off a 69 once, and when I put it back on I tightened the two bolts that hold it to the bracket on the firewall, when I went to drive the car and open the wiper door it didn't budge. I knew little about Vettes then and their oddities and it took me a while to figure out what the problem was. Maybe your bolts (2 of them, horizontal to the firewall and wiper door on either side of the door canister) are tight, loosen them because the canister needs to pivot to open the wiper door. Don't worry about a plug, you have it all apart and can do it from a standing position. Just in case I'm not clear about these bolts, it will be on the side next to where you wire tied the hose in the first pic, the other on the other side of that. They have a collar with nylon bushings for the swiveling. GOOD LUCK>>>>>>>>>>

I would take the canister off and also the grill panel that is located in front of the wiper door. With the grill off you will be able to see the linkage and hopefully find out what that the problem is.
