When I was removing my steering column I used a little too much force and now its bent. I cant find which part is bent. Is there a way to repair this. If not where can I find a new/used steering column. I can still use it for now, but it rubs and turns off center so its kind of annoying.
That's a hefty piece. I'd like to see someone bend the output shaft. I'm gonna bet you threw off the alignment of the lower output shaft. There is a bearing there, and you may have damaged that, parts are available, bearings at least , and Jim Shea could advise you on how to go about replacing it, but that's the only part i could see a person bending with human force.
I'm sure it can be repaired. Jim warns about letting the column drop by removing the upper column bolts to dash and leaving the firewell bolts attached. You probably ruined your lower bearing.
Thanks for the help. The splines were rusted on so it required me to get a little mad and throw my weight into it. I cant tell where the bend is I just notice the steering wheel turns off center, so that would make sense for the bearing. I will take it apart the next time Im home from school. thanks again
