Question for anyone with an antique tag in Pennsylvania....
I converted my PA classic car tag to an Antique and just received the new tag and owner's card in the mail today. I had to send in my actual title with the application and they didn't return it nor send a new one with the new tag. I plan to call them Monday morning but, wanted to check if anyone here knows if they send a title back separately from the tag.
I went with Classic plates after checking with my insurance agent. I didn't want to have an incident in the evening cruising to the store and then have issues with coverage. Now that I have the classic plate I am glad to have the annual inspection on my 77 survivor. Might want to check with insurance agent though just to be safe.
Enjoy
David
nope unless your coming back from a show. so they say. those laws are a little gray and very hard to enforce
Here is a quote from the application.
Antique vehicles operated exclusively between sunrise and sunset are exempt
from the normal lighting requirements of the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code, but must have their original lighting equipment.
I take that to say...if I have the propper lighting I can drive it after dark.

I agree, I think that night driving is OK, I agree there is a limit on joy riding and can not use as DD. I don't think the cops know the law either. Insurance coverage may the key, I didn't find any night time restriction in my policy.
The no night driving was for much older cars with the 6 volt systems and the ones with oil lanturns as lights. I guess they never changed the rule as newer cars started to become old enough to be antiques.

Yep, I agree. That statement on the application is the only reason I was willing to make the jump from Classic. I also asked a few local cops and a PA state trooper and they basically said nobody is going to bother you with a classic/antique car at night unless it's like an old, old car with the older, less powerful lights.

After 3yrs in Pennsy I'm back in Florida where I belong and this tag is no longer on the Vette, but I went thru all those questions and issues that are being discussed. Chances are that you won't get any hassle over night driving , just don't forget that Pennsy has all those small Township$/Borough$ and ticket$ are important for the budget$, so you'll be playing the odds to a certain degree.
