Default 72 clutch install

I'm sure this has been discussed before but I couldn't find ona search. I'm changing my clutch and cant get the trany back enough to get the output shaft out of the bellhousing. I had to remove the bell housing and tranny at the same time to get it all out but I khow it will not go back together that way since the output shaft will need to go thru the throwout bearing first. The shifter/mount prevents the trans from moving back far enough for the output shaft to clear. The shifter is all loose but I can't see a way for it to work.
Thanks if advance for advice

I removed the entire shifter barcket assembly to make it easier but others said it can be done without. Move the bell back to the engine face then slide the trannie back toward the rear. Rotate the trannie 90 degrees and it will slide back further, so the input shaft will clear the bell.
