4 speed tranny fluid check

70 vert - 4 speed m21 - Please forgive me on this question, how does one check if the tranny has enough fluid and how does one add if it needs it. Question #2 - whats you recommendation on fluid. Thanks

there is an inspection/fill plug on the side (passenger, square head), remove and insert pinky finger, if oil shows on finger everything is fine, if not 90W gear oil, any brand just add

And I'll add to this...if you change the oil...take out the FILL plug first before removing the DRAIN plug! Don't ask why I mentioned this!!

Don't mislead this guy, my 69 trans out of my Vette has no drain plug, the boss is there but not opened or tapped, just a fill plug. Look at these:

Drain plug normally M22 only thru 1969, then all Muncie 70-up had drain plugs.
