This radio was installed in my vette when I purchased it. As you can see, the ***** (one in this picture) don't look right. I'm looking for a stock appearance. Any suggestions on a better **** package?
The ***** for the old stock radio replacements are still available - that's if they would fit your current radio's **** posts. I saw the stock ***** in Zip's catalog for $20 a pair for a 72. Shop around, maybe you'll find them for less elsewhere if you decide to try them.
Forgot to ask. Does anyone have a picture of what stock 72 radio ***** look like or any picture and part number of what might work to dress this up. Has anyone usded the ZIP replacements?
There's been a number of aftermarket stereo's like that available over the years from what I remembered seeing in various mail order catalogs. Would you happen to know what the model number is of that stereo? Typically it's printed on a sticker on the back of the stereo's case. I know it would be a hassle to pull the center console out just to find that sticker, but knowing the actual model # might help you find a set of suitable ***** with the correct post holes without having to play trial and error.
I don't know if the stock ***** will work. That's a Custom Autosound radio. They use a round shaft thats grooved around the outside of the shaft and the shaft is slit in the middle. I think the original radio had a smooth shaft that was only partially round with a flat spot on one side. If so, the original ***** would have a hole in them that has a flat spot to match the shaft. There are enough Vettes out there with Custom Autosound radios that someone on the forum must have tried this.

The 72-76 radio ***** are the tall, black, grained plastic ***** that have the international symbols (music note and antenna) inset into the center of the ****. These ***** were shared with many other Chevrolets (and other GM cars too) from about 1970 on.
