im still figuring out my new to me 78 .and i need some help .just exactly what is the proper way to lay your t tops in the back without scratching them up ....looks like a pretty tight fit to me .thank u very much
Mine have vinyl bags they go into that prevent them from being scratched when they are stacked in back.
Mine too, they're black vinyl. Page 2-26 and 2-27 of the Owners Manual only says how to remove/reinstall the tops, and to place them in the back of the stowage compartment in the supplied bags. It shows a picture of the bags in the back but doesn't show exactly how tops are stored (top facing up or top facing down?) while strapped in. if I had to guess based upon the vague picture they might look like they're stored top side up and stacked on top of one another like that, but that's a big guess on my part. Padding or cushion is mostly nonexistent in these storage bags.
I bag mine, then place the first one in top side down, the the second, top side up. In this manner, the painted sides never come into contact. I also use a beach towel in the rear to provide a little more cushion.
Bag 'em and place the bottom one top-down and the top one shiny side up, worked for me, kinda locks 'em in place...nice to have some padding around them too if bags not padded, toss a small blanket in with them.
