Default Identifying a 454 block

Looking at a 454 bare block.
How do you make sure that it's a real 454 block?

Thanks

depends on the casting date, is bored? is it decked? lots of variables $600-$3500.

For reference, I gave $750 for a 4 bolt main 454 block that was line honed and rough bored.

All you needed to do was measure the bore....

For 454 application, the cylinder case has huge cut out reliefs on the bottom of the piston bores. This was necessary to clear the counterweights of the longer stroked crankshaft that gave the 454 specification over the 427 application.

Right but a 427 and 454 are 4.250 bore its the crank stroke and the extra clearance (mentioned by early shark) that makes the 454 more noticable
