My 70 big block has two rubber grommets that install into the hood so you can bolt the hood support to the hood. I've tried the dealer, M/A, and Ecklers and can not find the grommet. Any ideas?
I'm a little confused on what you are looking for, my hood has the support plate riveted under the support frame with threaded holes to bolt into. The only 'grommets' I can think of for that pourpose would be the inserts for a passenger mirror installation. Maybe someone has replaced that plate with the inserts. Is this what you're looking for?
I'm thnking he's looking for "threadserts" Look like a rubber grommet but has an expandable threaded insert. Put it in the hole with a bolt, tighten it up and it swells up. Pull the bolt out and you have a threaded hole.
GM used a plate with nuts welded on. Or a clip nut.

I don't think that will hold the hood up without cracking the fiberglass. You need the reinforcing plate.
yes, this is what the grommets look like, should I be using some sort of plate? this is for the hood support that holds the hood open, not for the hood mounts. can you show me a picture of what I should be using?
There is suppose to be a reinforcing steel plate with threaded holes fastened to the INSIDE of the hood. Is yours missing or are the holes stripped out?
