I have an '82 also, and it lopes some at idle, surges periodically when driving, and has some other issue. After posting/reading thru the Crossfire forum, I came to the conclusion that it may need to be bushed. There's advice for testing the need for this.

Hope that helps!

Look up Dynamic Crossfire Solutions and the How To pages for tech articles on checking out your TBs for wear.

WinALDL is software that me help you locate an erratic sensor as well. Its free and you only need to build up a cable to talk with your PC. You can find it on Joby's site. Just google WinALDL.

Mine was starting to surge at idle, along with periodic high idles up to 1500 when cold. After I replaced my manifold for a ported model and all the gaskets that go along with it, my high idle-surging problem went away. I did not touch the TBs.

I'm also not running any vacuum to anything other than the headlights. Check your brake booster for a leak.

Have fun.
