Default New to the board!

Hi all,

I am new to the boards and have been a fan of the 69-72's for a while.

Anyway, Im looking at getting my first vette and have been searching your forums and finding very valuable info (matching #'s, mods, issues, etc).

I found this local c3 and was curious what you all thought it was worth. I contacted the seller and he stated he wants 16k!

I am waiting to get pics of the VIN and the engine casting #...

Thank you kindly!
Andrew

Andrew

First and foremost are you going to look at it in person? If so ( my advice do) and find someone in the area, who has knowledge about vettes, to look it over. There are many hiding spots for rust.
You hear a lot of horror storys, about cars bought sight unseen,
( bought off fleabay). Not to put down this particular vette... but !

Isn`t trim 400 vinyl, not leather, look at the seats.

In my opinion, in this time of recession, the price to me is a little high.
Front bumper replacement, paint issues, marker light , gas tank emblem, after market stereo, you have to look at it and make sure everything works, frame rust and bird cage rust!

He did give you a clue he said it might have gone over.

Hope this helps

Rod

Yes, of course I was going to fully examine the frame and vehicle also getting a inspections.
I thought also that the price was somewhat high and I need to view the casting to ensure the #'s match....

Thanks for the info and I will keep you all posted. I am waiting to hear back from the seller!

Thanks,
Andrew

Since you are still new to Corvettes try to get someone who knows what they are doing to look at the car. Although it is very difficult to tell from the pictures supplied if the vehicle is as advertised-EG original drive train, numbers matching, rust free, big block, auto with A/C it should be worth $16K for a 1/2 chrome bumper vette.

Make sure you drive it and drive it hard. that will give you an idea of how it feels to drive a classic vette. If you like it buy it!!
