Car sat in drive way since the year I was born. The entire light system save the hosing was shot and when I started to revive the damned thing 1 bulb still lit and it wasn't going anywhere fast.. Today I finally got to the actuators for checking and found them to be the last problem. I have an extra set of act's and after this week, my Corvette can blink for the first time since 91'. Thanks for the help guys.
Thats awsome, im jealous, my car sat for about 15 years before i got it 2 years ago... i have yet to get them to open. if you dont mind, how hard are they to change? Also how did you test them... they are the big vaccuum canister right?
Yes, the actuators are the big canisters. If the entirety of the system isn't horribly corroded then it's not bad at all. You need to take off the head light bezel to get into the workings but going from underneath is also a good way to reach stuff.
You can test all the mech parts of the system by removing them and using a vacuum cleaner if you're cheap to test their durrability. Most of the time a visual inspection can see a hole in the thing that you're looking at that lets air get out (my relays looked like swiss cheese ). This web site can help a lot with the parts and how to test them http://www.corvette-101.com/
Btw, don't be jealous your cars painted and street legal!
thanks a lot , i just read and bookmarked that. btw, my car is not street legal right now! that picture is from when the tow truck dropped it off when i bought it! Hopefully soon! thanks again.
