I have a buzzing noise coming from what looks like a little green box right in front of the shifter under the center shift plate. It buzzes loudly as soon as I start to drive and is very annoying. What is this before I cut this sucker off! Thanks
Don't cut it off - I've had my center console torn apart as well and that little green box is either a relay or actual buzzer for an alarm condition (meaning seats belt, lights on etc). Since I can't remember what it actually does let me look it up in my AIM and Manuals at home tonight and I'll get back to you.
That is unless someone chimes in with the correct identification.
It's the relay for the choke. You probably pulled the wire off the choke accidentally and shorted it out against the block. Your fuse is probably blown.
Check that the wire to the choke (passenger side of the carb) is connected properly and the wire isn't frayed. Then check for a burned out fuse (can't remember which one but I do remember that there are many). When you replace the fuse the buzzing will go away.
PS. Until you replace the fuse and/or repair the connection, you might as well disconnect the relay. It isn't doing anything except buzzing.

Thanks! Have had this car only a couple months. I figured it had to be something like this. I just installed a holley 650cfm with the adapter plate, etc and rid of all the emissions controls. Bubba had already grabbed a hold of it and put straight pipes and cut all sorts of vacuum lines going to and from the puke/evap canister. What a nightmare. I think my biggest issue is where to splice for a 12v source. I havent had a need for it so I just opened up the choke setting as far as possible and just kick it down manually with a few revs. Thanks for everyones help!
I think my biggest issue is where to splice for a 12v source. ...choke ...
You can get power from the wiper motor (yellow wire on mine), works great for underhood gauge or choke. I found it a long time ago looking for an ig. switched source for underhood gauge & have posted it many times.
