I am looking into putting new outside mirrors on my 75 coupe and wanted to know what my options are. I like the original chrome mirrors but also like the sleek styling of some of the newer model mirrors that are painted to match the car. Has anyone had any experience with installing mirrors that didn't come on the car originally?
I think the 1977 mirror is good looking Cable hook-up to adjust (on some models) and should use the driver side bolt pattern. No mirror came on the Pass side in 75 so just match the other one for distance.

That's incorrect, the bolt holes are different, wider on the sport mirrors. Also the sport mirrors use studs. I modified a set of sport mirrors with some sheet metal inserts, and had them painted at a local painter.

Not sure, as i got them already removed, from an E-bay seller who cleans them up and primes them. They appear to be 77-79 mirrors, can't say for sure though, not sure if the style was changed or not in 80. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Corve...Q5fAccessories To mount them, they require some easy modifications, and you get 1 screw head on the outside of the mirror, (2 pictured on the inside) painted, it's barely noticeable. The drivers side mirror does require extensive modification, You have to cut the adjust cable out, and JB weld the mirror to a fixed position. On the passenger side, you have to drill new holes and JB weld a little metal plate to the inside of the door, as there is no reinforcement on the pass side from the factory. However, these mods are nothing compared to what you have to do to your doors to mount them factory style, including taking the door apart and the glass out.
