Default Replacing the Driver side Window Motor

Hey I replaced my driver side window motor after the window is hard going up. I replaced all of the bushings and all that already.

When I replaced the motor now its even worse.. now im confused on what it could be.. is there a bracket i should grease or something?

ANY IDEAS?

Thanks
Greg

Hi,
The tracks should be cleaned and lubed with lithium grease. Make sure the large window gear is all the way to the "down" position when you reattach the motor to the assembly, that way the spring will have enough tension on it to help the window into the up position.
good luck,
Tom

Greg,

Did you replace the regulator spring? It could be week or missing. When you installed the spring was the regulator in the full up position? That combined with good greasing should make it work smooth.

Tom, When installing the spring the regulator has to be in the full up position. the spring compresses when you put the mechanism in the full down. the spring is there to help with the up motion. I would install the motor first. Connect it to the wiring while its outside of the door. Power the regulator to full up. Then install the spring. Then power it to the full down position so you can get it into the door.

Hi Jim,
When I first replaced my window motor, the window would travel down, but not up. I then reinstalled the window regulator gear in the full down position thinking the spring would be wound tighter and help more with upward travel. It seemed to work as I then had both up and down travel. Wouldn't the spring be wound tighter with the gear in the down position? I'm probably not thinking this out properly.
Regards,
Tom

Hey Tom,

You got it right. You power the regulator to the full up position. Then install the spring. When you power the window down the spring tightens. The weight of the window helps this happen. So in the down position the spring is as tight as can be. As you power up it expands and pushes the window up. I did mine wrong. I have to do it again. I may just give it another trun if possible.
