Default Question about a 1971

I am looking at a second C3. I have not driven to to look yet, but the owner said this about the condition of the fiberglass:

The rivet bumps show under the paint in the nose section. The rest of the original paint looks great from 4-5 feet.

Where are these rivets located, and is this a serious problem?

Thanks in advance for any help!

My '71 has the original paint and has the rivet bumps, as well as the side seams.

Both of my cars also exhibit the surround panel rivet humps and fender bonding seams. They are original paint cars and I like knowing that they have never been messed with. You'll never know what hides under re-paints.

while the visible seams in the glass are normal, and a kind of badge, those rivet bumps just mean the rivets are rusting away, and if those things are rusting away...what else is?

Thats aluminum rivets located in a place that can't be kept clean. 80+% of pre '73 cars have these. They are in no way any indication of the state of the rest of the car!

Well, at least not until you strip it down to re-paint it properly!

I wonder how many original factory paint '71's out there don't have rivet bumps?

Aluminum does not rust.
I have a 1970, original paint no rusty rivets.

Default bumps

I always tend to shy away from the cars with those bumps on the nose- nice to find one for sale that is smooth.

I'm just the opposite, I'd much rather buy a car with original paint, bonding seams visible, front surround nose with bumps. Cars without these hide stories that most would not want to know about.
