Default Newbie SidePipe help (photos)

Hi, I,m a long time lurker first time poster and I gladly admit my mechanical skills are seriously lacking (working on it).

I just recently took my car to a professional exhaust garage and installed Hooker Shorties and Patriot side pipes (picked them up for free) on my 72. Now I understand Side pipes do have clearance issues but mine seem to be lower then most of the photos I see and is causing major clearance issues (too the point where the car is almost un-drivable). Very disappointing only home for 1 week a month.

I'm curious if someone could take a look at the attached photos and let me know if there is a way to get them even a little bit higher.( they claim this is the only way these could be installed)
I really like the look and the sound of the pipes are really don't want to have to go back the original exhaust design.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My thanks Ahead of time.

I don't think there is much you can do.

I've seen the Patriot side exhaust on the forum before but they didn't seen to sit that low. The biggest problem they seemed to have a large gap between the pipe and the car's body. I know on the factory side exhaust the front fender is cut to allow the pipe to sit higher. You may have to do something similar. Hope this helps.

I believe it's how the side pipes themselves mount that is the issue.

You're probably right. There are a lot hits if you search for "Patriot Side" in the search function. Here's one of them:

Dmeesq I see you turned your mounts upside down Curious if you had to add (weld) the section where your bolted to the pipe? Mines currently ubolt only attachment.
Also curious as to how much clearance you have with that setup mines currently less then 2"

Thanks help so far everyone
