I got this in an email from Proteam in today's mail as part of a periodic promotion:
Barn Found L88.. wins Best in Class at Keels & Wheels Concours d'Elegance on May 3rd, 2009 at the Lakewood Yacht Club in South Texas.
- Freshly restored by Naber Brothers of Houston, Texas, ProTeam's 1968 Red/Red L88 was a big hit with the crowds and judges at its premiere showing at this national non-Corvette venue. Look for this car at future NCRS meets and at the Bloomington Gold Special Collection June 25th-27th, 2009.
I was one of the two judges for that class at Keels and Wheels and that car didn't place in it's class. Ken Nabors' 67 roadster won the class followed by a 98point Silver NCRS beauty of a 70 roadster.
The 68 is a sweet car and an excellent restoration but did NOT win the class which was Corvette Open Cars. This is
I have also been a judge at this show for five years now - primarily working with Doug judging Corvettes. As you can imagine, we are asked not to comment publicly or to the owners on the details of how we judged the various cars. However, I can confirm that it did not win it's class.
It is a beautiful and rare car that I would love to own - no question about that.

Uh, sorry to go against the crowd with the pitchforks and flaming torches but... who cares?
Are we pretending a "Keels and Wheels First Place award" is supposed to elevate this car to some higher status or something?
It's not like they said it was a Top Flight and it wasn't, or that it had a Bloomington Gold Certification and it didn't. I'm thinking this Keels thing isn't quite the Gold Standard of Corvette Honor. And.... "fraud??" Fraud? Really?
Honestly, the need to hate ProTeam to the visceral level I see on this forum is just plain weird.

BS is BS plain and simple.Lets say you really liked a Vette they had and bought it because it had the documentation for a Top Flight and found out later it wasn't, or that it had a Bloomington Gold Certification and it didn't....I bet you would care then......I would
some years ago, when I was on the NCRS site, a regular from Louisiana, bought a 67 BB matching numbers, well, lo and behold, wouldn't you know it that the casting date fell off the block when he steamed cleaned his motor. Seems somebody ground off the correct casting dates and used mud to replace them. The guy was livid, but nothing he could do about it.

Would not want to be near that dude on that day............

I think you might be reading more into it. The point was they are telling a small fib about the car winning and it didn't. That's pretty much it. I don't think anyone hates Terry, they just want him to honest about what he is selling. Who am I fooling, he sells used cars.........
False advertising, fraud, BS, sales pitch, all means the same. ProTeam isn't doing much for their image, or for the Corvette community.
I agree. It's not like they are selling a nice mid year for a reasonable 7-10k. We all know they'll jack the price big time because it's a L-88 with all sorts of claims. The unaware buyer who's about to fork over a HEFTY sum would be screwed. It just aint right.
