Default Car Cover Cleaning

How do you guys clean your car covers..??
Just hose it off ( inside and out ) or maybe take it to dry cleaners...
or better yet ..just hand it to my wife and she can just drop it in the washing machine ....?

My Noah cover said to put it in a large commercial washing machine and to use Fantastic or 409 to clean it.
But..... it just fell apart after 2 years, even being used inside.
Sopposed to be "all-weather"

I don't know if it is the correct thing to do but I took mine downtown to the laundry mat and ran it through one of those commercial washers on its lowest setting. I then dried it on the lowest setting and left it damp so I did not shrink it. I have done this twice now and so far so good.

I ruined one with a dryer, so if you use a dryer be sure to have it on the lowest setting and remove it and turn about every 10 minuets.
My method now is to wash it in a 75# washer at the laundrymat, then bring it home and stretch out over 6 patio chairs and let air dry.

When the wife is gone for a couple hours, I throw it in the washer/dryer.

I just took mine to the local laundry. It would not even come close to fitting in my machine. I just washed it and came home and drappped it over some chairs to dry in the garage. It came out looking like new.

For the cost I'd just buy a new one.

I've gone to a laundrymat, used their commercial washer for about $7.00 and their commercial dryer (about $4.00). So for about $11.00 and an hour and 15 minutes of my time and I have a clean car cover. I do this about once every 5-6 weeks...and I bring a book to read.

If the thing is not filthy you can try filling up a large plastic tub or a (naturally clean) garbage can and washing it by hand. Then hang it out to dry. It may not come out spotless but it won't fall apart either.
