Reason: missed
I would have to guess you have a bad battery connection. Get your test light out and start checking to see where the power stops.
checked them both and they were tight and stuff, maybee i should just change them??? last guy rigged something wierd-the positive terminal has like 3 wire coming from it(red and small)
I had a similar problem which ended up being the negative battery terminal (cable). When i took it off I saw about 1.5ft of corrosion which had probably accumulated since 1977. Note, follow the cable through from the battery compartment through the grommet at the bottom and it mounts to the frame just underneath the car.

Plastic body's and bad grounds go together. First remove and clean the negative connection under the battery at the cross member. It also may be worthwhile to inspect your shifting cable as ground is sometimes centered through that cable too. All these problems act as a bad starter or battery. Most of the time neither is at fault

After you check all your cables on the battery etc.--check the fusible links on the starter harness. If one of those shorts it will kill all the power in the car also.
