Default 79 L48 restomodification

I thought I'd just post a 'before" thread of the 79 I've asking so many SB/BB questions about, I'll either chronicle the progress here or do a thread for each stage of the project.

The interior is first and I have a large order on the way from Corvette Central.

Following that will be drive line and of course paint/body and wheels/tires

I hope to have it ready for the Street Machine Nats this coming Sept in Little Rock

So without further ado, here's the before pics..........

That's a nice looking vette, from 40 feet away........but it's a very good base for a restomod.

The interior is worst and will be pretty much gutted. Plans call for a Black/Doeskin two tone approach to give a classy look and stay with factory colors.

Here's what I'm starting with

30 years of scratches and road rash, still a pretty good starting point

The biggest transformation will be here. I'll be dropping in a ZZ502 with Edelbrock top end kit for around 600/600 HP/TQ

66k miles and lookin like 166k

So there ya have it, one decent shape 79 L48 that's gonna get a total makeover. Stay tuned and I'll keep ya posted.

Interior should commence last week of this month, or first week of June.

Good luck with your project.
It looks like you are fortunate to be starting with a very complete car. Did you decide on a transmission to put behind that big block yet?
You may want to wait till the mechanicals and paint are done before you install that new interior. Why put a nice new clean interior in the car when you will have to be in and out getteing the drivetrain running and sorted out? On top of that body shops are not neccessarily the cleanest arenas for people getting in and out moving your car around with dust/dirt free clothing. Not saying that body men aren't carefull just saying why force them to be extra carefull.

It'll be getting a Keisler 4sp OD auto

Good point about the interior, might be wise to do that last. Overall time frame won't be any different, and yeah, it'd suck to get the interior messed up while doing the rest of it.

I imagine I'll pull it in the shop and start tearing it down next week.
