It is supposed to clip in on the two clips next to the defroster outlet and screw in on the two outer screws. If the screw holes are matching up the clips should reach the reinforcement in the dash frame with easy. If you do not have them clipped in, I would say there is a good chance the dash pad will warp over time.
it is not clipped in but the screws are where they are supposed to be and everything looks good, can i leave it like this? there is no way it will clip in the corners by the door jamb won't allow it, they are tight right now and the clips are about a half inch from clipping in, i tried pushing on them as hard as i could without breaking anything and they didnt go in and im pretty sure they will not either, i sent you pics to show you, thanks for the help
I'm gonna need a new dash top for my '77 & just because he came on the forum to try & help, I'm gonna call Wilcox!!
i had to make it fit and screw part of it down with a custom fit bracket because i dont want to wait for 3 weeks to get another one so zip it, it has problems with it and the corners are cut wrong and can be seen but thanks to my past projects i know how to make them look factory again, never said anything bad about anyone just said my part didn't work. willcox does have good service but like it or not my last 3 orders were messed up and it's been 2 weeks and one is still not fixed so do your *** kissing somewhere else son
I actually think I'm alone with this, but twice I've ordered from Willcox, and twice I've had problems.
On a seperate note I'm currently having dash issues with Ecklers...gotta love these cars.
i order everything from willcox and ebay, they have good service and good prices it just takes awhile sometimes to get it right, if that gets fixed they will be number one all the way no questions asked

I'm not sure what you mean by clips in the corners unless it is the two outer side clips the two side screws pass too! Number (3) below.
There are two clips (5) between the speaker and the defroster. Then there are two screws (4) on the outer side of each speaker.

No *** kissing on my part, bubba...just a fact - I don't know anything about your ability to do anything on a car...& I didn't even know who Willcox was before I read this thread....but the fact he was willing to talk with you & even gave you contact info & asked for you to provide him photos of your problem told me he wanted to help you....& that's what's important...I'm guessing every dash pad comes from the same manufacturer so 1 is as good or bad as another!

Thank you! I'll be here should you have any problems too! The 77 upper dash pads are perfect!
I don't understand this issue. I'm trying to figure it out!
But what makes this hard to understand is the history of this part! 85 black and red sold since 03 with two returns (on damaged in shipment).
I have pictures here of two cars we installed pads in over the past two years we have installed three of these in our own shop without any issues. Yes we do know a few cheating tricks to install the pads but I for the life of me can not figure this one out. I'm trying. . . .

i got it to fit in and it's in the clips but doesnt want to stay in the drivers clip so i placed it and had someone hold it while i screwed it in, i have it level and looking good so i think i am good to go, it wouldn't fit on the one side though i had to push it in as hard as possible while it was screwed to hold it there and fix thecorners to look factory again as well, but as i said it's good to go now and looks fine so thanks for the help and the service once again.
