Ok I put the colum back in my 73 project, just can't justify spending $1,000 on a tilt one. Anyway I get the colum back in and now it doesn't line up with the rag joint, not by a little but alot. It lookes to be too high and off to the left. Could the metal bracket inside the car have been bent? The colum, to me, sits forward too much. If I was a heavier guy there would be no way I could sit in the seat.

Is the column mounting flange up tight against the dash bracket? The one in the center of this photo (71'). Did you loosen the 2 bolts that hold it to the floor pan to see if it will move closer?

I'm going to have to check, I did remove the bolts holding to the firewall on the engine compartment. If it would just slide down a bit more it would be ok. When i slid the colum in it hit the firewall and I could not get it any further in. Looking at your pic I think, that someone put the bracket in reverse.
