Has anyone seen the 72 Corvette LS-5 454 on Ebay.
Item # 120417481111. It`s a no reserve auction with a current bid of 13,100.00
I can`t help but think there is something strange here. What is this car truly worth. I`m thinking about bidding on it. Need some advise from the experts out there.

Thanks
I just took a quick look at the E-Bay listing on that car. No feedback on the seller. The car looks very clean underneath from what you can tell by looking at pics. Even the buy it now doesn't seem unreasonable for a big block with air.
In any event, if you are interested, I would make a contact with the owner and if you beleive it is a real car go inspect it. I see you and the seller are both located in California. I would want to see the frame and the motor numbers etc. If, after inspection, it appears to be in good shape and the real deal, go for it. I wouldn't just throw bids at it until you or a trusted inspector went over the car. The auction ends tomorrow. Good luck
The good:
1. Looks like it has gotten a full detail treatment, with a fair number of new parts.
2. Most things look OK under the hood from a cursury look. I think it is the wrong fan on there (would be wrong for '71 or '70, I don't know '72s as well)
3. Interior looks to be in good shape.
The bad:
1. The seller has no feedback.
2. The seller has no feedback.
3. The seller has no feedback.
4. The seller says he has moved from the location in the listing, but doesn't say where he moved to.
5. The seller has no feedback.
6. The seller is offering free shipping, apparently with no limitations on destination. I assume he is willing to ship to South Africa for free?
7. The seller has no feedback.
8. No VIN is listed for the car.
9. No picture of the stamp pad, or anything else that could even start to verify numbers matching.
10. The seller has no feedback.
Alright, so we have a fully restored '72 big block 4 spd. A/C coupe with a "Buy it Now" price of $18,350, an undisclosed VIN, an unknown location, and a promise of free shipping. Where do I wire the money?

Depends on what you're looking for. I see lots of little things that are not right for a 72 BB. nothing earth shattering, like decal on the chrome air cleaner lid, stainless trim on pedals, chrome shift ****, standard and deluxe interior pieces mixed (standard door panels and shifter plate, the rest deluxe), incorrect fan blade for a BB with A/C (cost big bucks to replace).
Looks like it's a bit high in the back end. Passenger side mirror is an add-on.
I would definitely want someone to check this one out before putting any money on it. Paint looks good in pics but can be bad up close and personal.
It looks like someone started an NCRS correct restoration with the frame and suspension then it took a left turn.
There has to be a reason for the low price. I would want to know what it is.
i have tryed to contact the seller myself since last weekend at both the ebay link and his personal email address (which dissapeared a couple of days ago) his personal email address was contained in a portion of the ad that stated a buy it now price of a little over 18,000 but i think ebay pulled it because it wasnt an official buy it now offer. i also found the car on los angeles craigslist and when i clicked on the more info link on the ad my anti virus warning came up (avast) and wouldnt let me open it so i dont know ? maybe its my computer but this person isnt getting back to me and ive tryed a bunch of times.
Thanks fella`s...appreciate the info.
I`m pretty good at spotting scams but this to me, is a scam. Appears to nice for the money. and I always pay through Pay Pal.
I think Ebay should check this out. Reminds of the 69 Z/28 I saw one time on Ebay. Professional restoration, matching #`s, absolute mint condition with a BIN of 6500.00
Those pictures and that car have been up on eBay before. I recognize that car from about 8 months ago. It was auctioned 2-3 times and never met the reserve. The first time it ended at 35-37K and didn't hit reserve. This looks like someone is using the pictures to run a scam. That auction doesn't look the same as the originals.
Typical Scam. When you see them ask you to contact them through an email address in an auction for the buy it now, you know it's a SCAM
After you email them they get your email address and then will try and scam you other ways also. When you do ask a question on a questionable auction, always go through the ebay system and make sure you check that you want to hide your email address from the seller.

That looks like a legitimate listing.
Don't worry about lack of feedback. The seller may never have used eBay before or never will after he sells his car. This is the case with a lot of high value items.. Sellers may not have any feedback.
It's a fairly good car although with minor issues that folks have mentioned.
Lot of people are starting to list good cars at a low starting price without a reserve. It costs nothing to list your car on eBay (for the first 6 listings). The seller may remove the listing 12 hours before it ends if he/she is not satisfied with the highest bid.
Ebay edited the email out of it again. There is no way it's legit, but since the email note is gone it looks more legit now. Ask them the address where you can see the car. I'm sure you will get no response or there will be an issue why you can't. Make sure you check that you want to hide your email address from them.
I like the:

Almost as if they went to school in NIGERIA.

this car is from florida and was and may be still on craigslist. it was on ebay several times. highest i saw it get was 40k but didnt meet reserve. its been on lately from florida to cal. with this ahole.
I saw this on ebay a couple of weeks ago and almost started a thread on it... it had 2 bids and was up to 75,100$.. then it dissappeared... very fishy..
nice car, it won't hurt to ask about it, i am sure he is getting tons and tons of questions...
It's not legit. The image that has contact him outside ebay is back up again in the auction. Anyone who thinks it is legit, I have a few Million dollars in Nigeria waiting for you from your long lost relative who won it in the UK lottery but died and left it to you.
I reported it to Ebay and they removed his email info again.

Now, that was a real scam.
eBay is really proactive about pulling down fake listings. It's very unlikely that fake high value items escape their filters.
