How in the he## do you take the latch out of the glove box door. I do not have a key. I just can't figure out what the secret is. Thanks
not sure i left mine in but i'm finding that most of the wierd things that seem to be cemented in all have an e or c clip of some sort on them, and they suck to get out unless you have the proper pliers, have an 81 also, isn't it wierd how they did things way back then, impossible. good luck
If you open the door and look at the lock cylinder case you will see a hole and a brass retainer tumbler. If you push this downward the lock cylinder will pull out from the case. There is a good simpler instruction sheet here. It will work the same for cars with our without a key hole. If you have lost your key now this is a different subject and post again.
Mission accomplished!! Thanks to everyone for the responses! I did not have a key as this was a door that I bought on ebay just for the latch. With a combination of the two methods, I was able to get it apart and install in my car. I put my old tumbler in so that I now have a good latch and a key. Again, thanks. Darrel
