Hello, I’m am planning on putting a set of alloy wheels on my 1974 C3 when I complete the chassis restore that I’m currently working on. I pretty sure that I’m going with the polished American Racing Torque Thrust II rims as I have seen many pictures here on the forum of these rims on C3’s and I like the look.
Problem is there is no dealer for aftermarket rims in my area and I’ll have to order them in, so I need to get it right the first time. I was thinking of going with 17x7 on the front and 17x8 on the rear. Can you guys advise if this will work OK and what back-spacing and/or offset I need. If you guys have pictures of your set up, front and rear, that would get excellent.
You can go 17x8 with 4" BS on the front and on the rear if you like. Or 18x9.5 with a 5" BS on the rear. I am in the same boat as you, and deciding weather or not to mix and match sizes or stay with 17" all the way around now. Now sure if it will effect the handling on the car.

Go with at least 8 wide all the way around. No need to drop down to 7s in the front. The staggered fit works great on these cars also
