Default Break problem

Hi,

I have a small break problem.
About 2 week ago, my rear right caliber leaked fluid.
So I orded my gaskets for both calibers, in the US.
I've mounted the new gaskets (Lip seal) but it still leaks, what can be my problem now?

BR,
John

Your rear bearings may be causing the leakage of your brakes. If they wear or loosen, it causes the rotor to move enough that it will make the caliper leak. This is where o-ring calipers are advantageous, they will take up more misalignment than a lipseal will.
Jack up the rear and grab the wheel at 12 and 6 o'clock. If you've got more than 1/8" of movement, there's the problem.

Thanks schmegeggie, I will try that tomorrow.......

If I go for o-ring pistons, will I then still need the springs in the caliber?

Best Regards from Denmark, Europe,
John

If your calibers are not SS sleeved don't even bother to repair them. If they are you will need all new pistons, rings, and seals for O rings. Check your wheel run out with a dial gauge. Stay within .002.

Then replace them with the O ring design. Dial in the run out and you should be good to go. I got mine from VBP. Very nice group of people over there.

Good Luck,
Danny

Do I need the springs in the pistons, if I go for o-ring pistons?
