I just purchase a 1977 corvette yesterday. The person had the card for 17 years and put about 14,000.00 into it about 6 years ago. It has a create motor in it. Everthing on the car look almost new but when I got it home yesterday I started to see dark brown stuff mix in with the anti freeze. I flush the raditor and it got better but a little is still there. Car runs good and does not over heat. Any suggestion. Thanks.
congrats on the 77....i got mine in december and had to do all kinds of minor projects on it but i am taking it on thursday to get it inspected and license on it
my antifreeze was a dark brown and when i flushed the system i found two rubber hoses in the overflow
Two things come to mind that will cause the antifreeze to appear brown. One is if someone put DEX-COOL in it and hasn't changed it out for many years. A good flush should help this.
The second thing is BAR's Leak... There is generally only one reason people put BAR's Leak in a radiator. If it's BAR's Leak and you flush it good... you'll find out why soon enough.
