Fuel pump removal
Hi! My dad owns a 71 stingray corvette and we are now attempting to get it running again. We are currently are not able to remove the fuel pump. So far we have removed the rubber fuel lines and taken out the small screws at the bottom. We cannot remove the fuel line to the engine no matter how much Wd-40 we use, and cannot get to the larger bolts on the top of the mount. PLEASE HELP!!

The first time I did a fuel pump on a Corvette w/ A/C, looked the situation over & pulled the right front tire & used long extensions. Have posted that tip many times. Esp. for A/C.

First you will need good tubing wrenches to properly remove the fuel line. WD-40 is good for displacing moisture, but not the best penetrating oil, I would suggest PB blaster. The fuel pump is held to the block by (2) 1/2" hex bolts and will pull straight out from the block. When the pump is out the pushrod will fall to the bottom. When installing the new pump use a good amount of axle grease to hold the rod in the up position while inserting the lever back into the block, or use the forward bolt hole on the block with a longer bolt to hold the rod. If you have never replaced a Chevy fuel pump before this can be quite challenging.
