Hello all new member here. I have acquired my first C3. 1979 L48 car. It is a nice driver car, looks great from a few feet away, but has a few paint flaws that I will address later. Car drives and runs great, no leaks no smoke. Birdcage and frame are rust free. Interior needs a few minor items and the AC is intact but not operable. 7500.00 in it, do you guys think I got hurt?
Nice color, I like the fact they stripped the paint off the trim and went bare metal. But they didn't really mask ANYTHING off when painting. The bumper guards and grills are body color and should not be, but $7.5K is a good price for a 79 Driver. Congrats and enjoy!
Well I paid 7000 for my 1980 and I need to repaint mine and rebuild the entire interior. Plus the most massive tune up I've ever had to do to a car. So I think you got a fair price.
well, im diffrent here. you got taken. 7500 was the inital investment. Now, u have to pay for gas to all the events and shows, parts, hp mods, medical bills when people sue u for neck injuries from turning there head to far to watch u go by. This thing will end up costing at least 100k.
Congrats on the nice ride and welcome to the forum!
As long as you like it, it doesn't matter what others think. Having said that, I don't think you got hurt, looks like a nice car. I paid $8,500 for an 81 with new paint , new tires and no mechanical issues 2 years ago, it was a great deal then but would be lucky to get it now.
I paid exactly the same for my 79 3.5 years ago. Your paint looks nice, mine was shot. Mine ran and still runs great, and has some mods done to the engine which are down to the brand name, exactly what I would have done, so that saved me a lot of time and money. The owner claimed the engine was rebuilt. Although he never was able to produce receipts for it as he had just moved, I have no reason to not believe him. I had receipts for basically all new interior and all new front suspension. Therefore, no I don't think you got hurt at all. That's a pretty nice looking 79. Also, mine has the numbers matching engine, trans, and rear end and is an L-82 4 spd. BTW, Covington is a beautiful part of the state, and congrats on your new purchase.
From the pics. it looks like you did good. Now get ready for the attention...both from the people around you...and from the car always wanting more...more...more.
Thanks for the comments guys. I didn't know the crhrome trim was not original, I have seen '79's both ways, I guess the others were stripped also. This car is a lot of fun to drive and look forward to doing a little at a time to upgrade her.
