I know my 78 has a factory alarm, and it still functions. I'm just wondering if anyone has taken protecting their C3 to the next level with this particular type of system.
Or is there an even better aftermarket system than this?
It looks like a fancy interlock system. You can build one that will work just as well with a couple relays. There is no such thing as a 100% effective alarm or security system, the best is locked garage with alarms and video. That said, I use a multi level approach to do the best I can. Keyless entry system with an alarm, Viper or better. Combination interlock system with battery disconnect (interior light off, radio off, foot on brake) GPS tracking system. I also have cameras setup at the house and guns at all the entrances.
I don't park my car in the hood. Thats about all you can do.
The best alarm I can think of would be one that slows down a would be thief than an alarm that's faster to defeat.
Ravelco claims all wiring is done under the hood and also no colored wires to offer clues. The only thing I don't like about that system is the gray plug that goes on a keychain and the other mated connector for the plug placed either under or through the dash.
One one of our other vehicles we have a Viper alarm with an impact sensor. At least that will alert us if someone's trying to break into the car, if anything.
if someone wants to steal one of our cars, they don't break the window and bust the ignition. They come with a rollback, and swipe them. Unless you have a new uber radio, no one wants to break in and steal anything.
But if you want an alarm for your peace of mind, get a Viper with a remote start...you can start your car from like a mile away, and even see the temperature inside the vehicle...but it wont keep anyone from stealing it.
