Default 73 LS4 smog install pics

Well some former owner yanked the A.I.R. system off my big block and tossed it, not realizing how much it would cost me to put it back together years later in the middle of a recession. But it's only money, and my baby's so original it deserved to be choked once again by a correct smog system.
I consulted Kevin Mackay of Corvette Repair and he told me the man for smog is Bill Hodel. Sure enough, Bill was a pleasure to deal with. He knows all the part #'s off the top of his head. He sent me the complete kit, including proper hoses and dated clamps. He packs his stuff so well it took me a solid half hour just to unwrap my new toys.
Original pump is part # 7801149 ...

X3031S
X = assembly line
030 = Julian date (January 30)
3 = 1973
1 = shift
S = Saginaw, Michigan plant

Manifold pipes on the bench at Corvette Repair ...

Exhaust manifold plugs are removed and pipes are ready to go on ...

Test fitting the A.I.R. pump ...

It's starting to look like 1973 all over again ...

O.K., Bill, you can smile now, I'm done taking pictures ...

Just kidding, all the guys at Corvette Repair are always very accomodating when I show up with my annoying camera

William, nice job, I heard that bill Hodel was the guru of all things related to A.I.R., he was very helpful to me when I had some questions a few years back. I was floored by the prices some people were asking for a complete set-up, but I lucked into a good deal from fellow a forum member off of his 72 that he was no longer using.
Nice pictures, thanks for posting
BTW did you notice any difference in performance with the A.I.R. installed?
Regards
Roy

Not if you gut the pump and block everything off.

What color was the plastic fan on the '73 smog pump?

my late build (July '72) was black. If you look at Williams second to last picture, his is black as well (as its supposed to be) I think the switch from white centrifugal filters(fans) happened sometime earlier in 1972

I haven't got the car back yet. It is Bill Hodel's "non-functional" setup, so I don't expect any difference.

Thanks, that's what I thought. I received a '73 dated pump and it had a black fan and I was going to put a white one on it. I assumed your was correct.

Thanks, although I wish I made your decision and went the Hodel route. Would have been easier.

Gorgeous, great addition.

Love the bright white on the wiper motor, too.

Good observation. The old one gave out. The new one doesn't have that aged yellow patina...yet.

Hello,

Above all I find the result very beautiful, congratulations.

There is a fine hose which goes diverter valve to the carburettor (small hose with a white line), can you join to your post a photograph of the place where it is connected (I think of the carburettor).

THANK'S
