Default fuel consumption

Hi everybody.

I just bought a 1980 corvette C3 (from New Hampshire to Spain) and I would like to know about the fuel consumption of the car. It's really so high? how many miles per galon? I'm worry about it because i'm in Europe and the petrol is quite expensive.
Than you for your help

Depends. Engine. Differential. Maintenence. Weather. Driving style. Is it a daily driver? Or is it just a weekend fun car? If its paid for, then think of all the money your saving compared to your neighbors BMW.

It's a little late now to worry about high fuel consumption. You can expect to use minimum 15L per 100km and possibly 20-22 if you drive hard.

Drive like a race car driver!

Sounds crazy right?

Not at all, as they do pretend there is a egg shell under the gas pedal. Light pressure on the pedal only. One thing I read says try not to exceed 2000 rpm. I've tried this method with my DD, I picked up around 4 miles to the gallon!

From what I've read, the 1980 Corvettes were rated around 14 MPG.

A Car and Driver magazine from 1980 says 12-15 MPG's. Not so good.

Buy a 350 trans. with a lock-up converter. or a cross member out of a 82 and install a 700 4R and you will save a lot of gas. Have a great day Gene
