Alright, I've figured out how to reassemble everything in my steering column. I'm only 18 so it's been a learning experience. But I still have one problem that has never been fixed. When I turn on my headlights, my brights automatically come on with the headlights. There is no way to turn them off. When I replaced the pivot in the steering column for my turn signals, which broke recently after the brights starting acting up, I thought it might fix the brights too. But it only fixed the blinkers. So I'm beginning to wonder if it's the dimmer switch which is messed up? But I'm not sure. And I'm pretty sure all of my headlight wiring is correct because they worked right before.
There is a rod that comes down the steering column from the dimmer pivot to the dimmer switch. When you pull your turn signal lever toward you does the rod move? When the rod moves, can you hear an audible click in the dimmer switch?
You could try removing the switch from the steering column jacket and try actuating the switch by hand. Do you hear a click and do you actuate your high beams? This should tell you if the switch is good or bad.
