Default how do you guys part a C3

I've come to the conclusion with my 1990 project that I probably will never have time to finish my 82 convertible project. So the question is while I know all the convertible parts are worth selling and all but is it better to keep the rolling frame together for sale? this is a 82 vette by the way ... Or is it easier to sell the individual suspension parts and cut the frame up for scrap. I don't really see anything from these cars bring in any amount of money I just want this headache to go away.

Most of it's body parts are still good, no interior whatsoever, mechanically wise it's all there and still starts.

so what parts would you keep and sell verses what you would just throw in the dumpster?

yes I really hate to kill the car but at this time and in the future I just see no time for ever finishing it is all.

It all depends on how much time you have.

As a general rule, you could part out a car for about 30% more than you could get for the thing whole, AS LONG AS you don't factor in the time and effort involved in parting it out.

I've found that it's well worth selling it all in one piece and just moving on, as my time is worth something to me.

If you want to get it gone, put it out as a low-ball offer and just take the first offer to come along. I just did that with another vehicle of mne, and while I might have been able to get another $1000 if I parted it out, it realistically would have taken me at least 30-40hrs spread over the next few months of wrenching, posting ads, dealing with buyers who never show, and storing those parts in the meantime.

As it is, I posted an ad on the relevant forums, and within two weeks a very happy guy had everything loaded up and driving away, and I've got cash in the bank and free space, not to mention all that time to work on my other things.

If you want to come to a price that will move your project all in one piece, figure a lowball value of the major individual parts of your project, tally them up, subtract $500 and post that as the price.

As a Vette guy who just bought an 82 Vert project, i would say it depends on the condition yours is in. I'd done some CF research on what others had spent ($$$$ & time) into doing an 80-82 vert. Since i already had an 81 that i was contemplating using, my cost was simply parts + sub'ing out what i couldn't handle doing.
After adding the cost of the needed parts AND assuming doing ALL the work myself, I got the 82 project for $1500 over the cost of the parts i would have needed to track down, buy, and install on my 81. It runs, drives and stops.
Also, my plans were for an LS powered, semi custom C3 drop-top so NOM/no interior/primer were plus's for me as i didn't have to take it out/dispose of it. PLUS I now have 2 C3's
As always, pics HELP
