Why should you, you posted such a great picture. I wonder why it is still for sale?
To some degree I can see the guy's point. He said "needs restored", so you should expect that the car needs everything. If you can't take the time to come see the car, you aren't going to make the time to restore it, so you shouldn't be buying it in the first place. Why spend hours yakking on the phone to people who aren't really interested?
Restore has a lot of different meanings nowadays. Is it a coupe or vert? Does it have a motor? NOM? Tranny? Options? Birdcage? There are things I want to know before I travel 2 hours to see a car to see if it is worth restoring. In this day of such a buyers market, I do not see how anyone can use this sort of tactic.

Of course you are correct. I said "to some degree" I can see his point, but the reality is that if you really want to sell a car in pieces, you probably need to be at least a little nice to people who call about it. There are a lot of project cars out there, and I know I wouldn't buy a car like that from someone who was acting like an azzhole for a variety of reasons.
On the other hand, last year when I was looking for a car, I called one owner whose ad was interesting but it didn't state whether the car was auto or manual. I asked him "Is it automatic or 4 spd" and he says "you mean the transmission? It's automatic. Everybody keeps asking that...." like it never occurred to him that it would matter to someone if it was auto or manual. I think most of the members here are somewhere on the spectrum of "car guy/girl", we like to work on cars, upkeep our cars, improve them, and spend some of our leisure time talking about them. I think there are a lot of Corvette owners out there who aren't really like that.
it is really just what the world is getting to be... with today's internet, people working from home, text messageing, this forum, etc.. there is just a major loss of social skills.
people no longer want to be face to face with people. no confrontation, no worry.... take my terms or leave it.... and it is getting worse...
my son broke up with his girlfriend with a text message.... my gawd...at least go knock on the door and talk about it face to face...
