If I don't ask I won't learn... That said, I have a litle bit cooling problems.. I reacently flushed the system, changed thermostat, rad cap
and changed a couple of hoses the temperature at the thermostat housing is at 189 and the sending unit one side reads 212 the oother around 224 that after about 45 minutes running Is this temperature good or not..... I ask because while I was running the car after changing the thermostat I noticed how there is a big difference in flow without thermostat.. Is this normal...Any help or comment is appreciated
The temperatures seem reasonable to me. The temps in the heads should be hotter than at the thermostate. However, you seem to be concerned about the accuracy of the temp gauge. You could get another gauge, attach it to the sender unit and see if it displays the same temp. Or you could get a new sender unit, put it in and see if the temp is the same.
But, I have a '79, which I have owned since new. 210/220 is not uncommon for me here in Texas.
