Default Headlight Conversion Questions

Hey all, I have a 71 with headlights that are less than stellar to say the least. I checked it does have halogen sealed beam style headlights, but they are very dim and nearly worthless on the highway without using the highbeams. I have been thinking about doing an H4 conversion kit to change from the sealed beam sytle to a bulb but have run into a few issues. My main problem is that the 71 has a fiber optic monitoring system that lets you know if any of your lights aren't working. It's a really neat feature and I'm proud to say that almost 40 years later it still works fine. However, the pickup that detects whether the light is on in built into the plug that hooks up to the bulb and triggers off of a part of the sealed beam case, something that obviously isn't there if I converted to an H4 bulb. Does anyone know if there is a kit out there specifically designed for C3 Vettes? I've looked around and found plenty of generic 5 3/4 kits, but I have no idea what brands are any good if it even matters. If necessary I think I can rig up the fiber optics with an extension and some modification to the casing, but before doing anything I was wondering if anyone had attempted this. I was also considering an HID kit. I've found plenty of Ebay kits that are priced very affordably and was wondering if anyone had anything good or bad to say about them. Thanks for any help that you all can provide.
